PoE 2 Boss Guide: Jamanra The Abomination Strategy & Drops

Jamanra, The Abomination is a gruesome, multi-limbed boss encountered in the Vastiri Desert region of Act 2 in Path of Exile 2. Once a noble guardian of the Maraketh, he has been twisted by ancient corruption into a towering mass of flesh and bone. This fight is a heavy physical endurance test, requiring players to manage positioning against large AoE slams and caustic ground effects. He serves as the gatekeeper to the interior of the ancient tombs.

Lore & Background

Jamanra was once a celebrated warrior of the Akhara, sworn to protect the oasis settlements from the encroaching corruption. However, in his desperation to gain strength enough to repel the darkness, he consumed the blood of a slain beast of the sands.

The ritual failed disastrously. The beast's spirit fused with his own, warping his body into a grotesque vessel. Now known only as The Abomination, he roams the dunes, driven by an insatiable hunger and a fragmented memory of the honor he once held.

Core Mechanics

The arena is a circular sand pit surrounded by crumbling pillars. The fight is defined by heavy physical hits and area denial via poisonous bile. Jamanra has two distinct phases based on his mutation level.

Phase 1: Dreadnought Vanguard Deck Battle

• 1. Sword Projectile
  Description: Conjures a sword before firing it at the player
  Strategy: Timing is crucial—hiding too early makes you vulnerable to subsequent throws.
• 2. Sandstorm
  Description: Creates a powerful sandstorm, slowing the player while not in the safe area from a Maraketh ally. Summons king‘s Attendant adds.
  Strategy: Must hide behind Sekhema Asala's Torch-Shield

Phase 2: Desert Showdown (After 66% Health)

At 66% Health, Jamanra roars, causing extra limbs to burst from his back. He becomes stationary in the center of the arena for a moment before becoming highly aggressive.

• 1. Tornado
  Description: Creates a moving sand tornado which applies slows players it touches
  Strategy: Keep an eye on their movement and avoid stepping into their paths to counter this attack.
• 2. Spear Throw
  Description: Fires a giant spear, shattering the ground in front of where it lands
  Strategy: In which spears will appear on the shoulder of the boss, and the boss will rapidly throw the spears at you. You can dodge as Jamanra thrusts his arm forward. Timing is crucial—dodging too early leaves you vulnerable to follow-up throws.
• 3. Sword Slash
  Description: Raises his sword before slicing down, creating a shockwave.
  Strategy: Dodge roll into the direction of the attack, then move towards Jamanra's right side to avoid the damage
• 4. Electricity orb
  Description: A small orb moves quickly around the arena, dealing lightning damage in pulses.
  Strategy: Watch its trajectory and sidestep or roll away to avoid it.

Recommended Builds

Jamanra deals primarily Physical and Chaos damage. He has high health but is relatively slow.

• Mercenary - Shrapnel Shot: The close-range burst damage of Shrapnel Shot is effective due to Jamanra's large hitbox. Use your grenade launcher to clear any sand constructs he might spawn.
• Druid - Bear Form: The tankiness of the Bear allows you to mitigate his physical cleaves. Use Ferocious Roar to interrupt his smaller attacks.
• Key Stats: Chaos Resistance is vital for Phase 2. High Armor or Physical Damage Reduction will help mitigate his basic attacks.
