PoE 2 Boss Guide: Lachlann of Endless Lament Strategy & Drops

Lachlann of Endless Lament is a tragic, story-critical boss encountered in the Memorial of the Lost at the end of the Cemetery of the Eternals in Act 1 of Path of Exile 2. Once a grieving father seeking his lost family, he has been twisted by the corruption into a hulking undead monstrosity. This fight is a test of positioning and environmental awareness, requiring players to use the arena's terrain to survive his relentless cold and physical assaults.

Lore & Background

You first meet him as Lachlann the Lost, a broken man searching the graveyards for his wife and children. His sorrow made him susceptible to the corrupting influence of the seed. During the quest "Sorrow Among Stones," his grief consumes him completely, transforming him into the Endless Lament.

He now guards the path forward, his wails manifesting as deadly spirits and freezing magic. To proceed, you must grant him the peace of death that eluded him in life.

Core Mechanics

Lachlann deals heavy Physical Damage and Cold Damage. The arena features a large Central Tomb which is vital for your survival. The fight creates hazardous Ice Trails that slow movement.

Phase 1: The Grieving Giant

• 1. Lamenting Scream Blast
  Description: Lachlann screamed into the sky, releasing a circle of white sound waves centered on himself.Causes cold damage and applies Chill or Freeze effects.
  Strategy: As soon as you see him tilting his head to gather power, immediately roll away.
• 2. Spectral Barrage Projectiles
  Description: Summons multiple ghostly skull projectiles that are fired toward the player in a fan shape or tracking form.
  Strategy: The projectile flies at a moderate speed; lateral movement is sufficient to avoid it.
• 3. Glacial Cascade
  Description: Release a wave of ice spears that pierce forward from underground.
  Strategy: This is a narrow straight-line skill that dodges to the left or right.
• 4. Swing
  Description: The Boss swings his mace sideways. The Boss will usually get momentum from his swing.
  Strategy: Pay attention to observe and avoid.

Recommended Builds

Lachlann is slow but hits hard. Builds that can kite effectively have an advantage.

• Ranger - Lightning Arrow: The Central Tomb allows you to break line-of-sight while your arcing arrows or Mirage Archer continue to deal damage.
• Warrior - Shield Charge: Using a shield helps mitigate his heavy physical slams. Shield Charge allows you to quickly reposition behind the tomb when he casts Spirit Blast.
• Key Stats: Cold Resistance is mandatory to mitigate the Ice Trail damage. A Quicksilver Flask helps counter the slow effects.
