PoE 2 Boss Guide: Viper Napuatzi Strategy & Drops

Viper Napuatzi is an agile, humanoid boss encountered in The Serpent's Coil, a sub-area of the ancient Vaal city of Utzaal in Act 3. Toxsnake Napuz is a dangerous boss clad in golden armor and wearing a large bone helmet. She will lead a group of spear soldiers to encircle the arena.

Lore & Background

The battle is divided into two main phases: The armed phase: where she uses a spear; and the Unarmed phase:  where she relies on soldiers and casts magic.

Core Mechanics

Viper Napuatzi deals high Physical and Chaos Damage. His attacks inflict potent stacks of Poison. The fight is a pure DPS and reflex check with very few moments to rest.

Phase 1: The armed 

• 1. Viper's Flurry
  Description: Napua'zi charged forward， delivering a rapid series of blindingly fast consecutive attacks with his spear.
  Strategy: She sidestepped to the side when she attacked forward to avoid the attack.
• 2. Venomous Throw
  Description: She drove her spear into the ground fiercely, creating a pool of lingering venom.
  Strategy: Roll and dodge quickly to leave the venom area to avoid taking damage.

Phase 2: Unarmed phase

• 1. Poison Nova
  Description: Her hands release venom for an attack, which is quite fast.
  Strategy: Step back immediately when you see him raise his hand.
• 2. Venomous snake strike
  Description: He was surrounded by a green energy aura and unleashed a powerful double serpent-shaped thrust.
  Strategy: Before the boss attacks, it will charge up with green light. You must immediately roll to dodge and avoid the attack.

Recommended Builds

The boss is fast but has clear attack patterns. Builds with high burst damage or "hit and run" capabilities are effective.

• Mercenary - Grenade Launcher: The burst AoE from grenades can hit the boss even as he dashes around, and the high Stagger damage can interrupt his deadly combo.
• Sorceress - Ice/Frost Spells: Chilling or Freezing Napuatzi is the most effective way to counter his extreme speed, making his Flurry combo survivable.
• Key Stats: Chaos Resistance is mandatory. Movement Speed is crucial for dodging his repositioning and combos.
