PoE 2 Boss Guide: The Crowbell Strategy & Drops

Last Updated: November 28, 2025 • By phoenixalfonse

The lore of the Crowbell – Hunting Grounds is equally rich, weaving a tale of decay, ambition, and survival. The area is named after the infamous Crowbell clan, a group of hunters who once thrived in Wraeclast's wilderness before being consumed by the very corruption they sought to dominate.

The Crowbell clan was ultimately consumed by the power they pursued — they not only lost their humanity but also mutated into dangerous monsters, forever wandering their former homeland and becoming a terrifying legend of the Hunting Grounds region.

Lore & Background

Before the corruption seeped into the Ogham Wilds, Crowbell was the village watchman, tasked with ringing the warning bell to ward off beasts. However, as the seed of corruption sprouted deep within the earth, his flesh fused horrifically with the bronze bell he carried.

No longer ringing for protection, he now tolls to shatter the bones of intruders. The chimes that once summoned crows to clean carrion now serve as a death knell for his own twisted soul. For an exile, crossing his path means becoming the next meal for his flock.

Core Mechanics

The Crowbell is a challenging two-phase boss in Path of Exile 2, known for its powerful attacks and ability to pick up a massive bell when its health drops to 50%. In the first phase, the boss uses its brute strength to attack players up close, relying on moves like slams and punches. Once it transitions to the second phase, it gains the bell as a weapon, increasing its attack range and adding devastating shockwave abilities. Observing the boss's glowing indicators and build-up movements is essential to avoid taking damage and finding safe moments to strike.

Phase 1: (The bell was not picked up)

  • 1. Ground Slam
Description: The boss slams the ground, creating a small shockwave that deals damage in a radius. The boss raises its arm slowly and begins to glow before slamming.
Strategy: The boss raises its arm slowly and begins to glow before slamming. Use this as a signal to dodge out of the way.
  • 2. Uppercut
Description: The Crowbell punches upward, launching close-range players into the air.
Strategy: Do not try to kill them one by one. Save your AoE (Area of Effect) skills to clear the flock instantly when they group up. Use movement skills (like Dodge Roll) to break their tracking.
  • 3. Leap Slam
Description: The boss touches the ground briefly, then leaps into the air and slams down on your position."
Strategy: As soon as the boss takes to the air, dodge to either side to avoid the impact.

Phase 2: (After picking up the bell

  • 1. Bell Slam
Description: The Bell Slam involves slamming the bell onto the ground, sending out a shockwave with cracks that move toward you.
Strategy: When the boss lifts the bell, back up immediately and prepare to dodge the incoming cracks.
  • 2. Spinning Bell Swing
Description: The boss swings the bell in a wide arc, spinning twice to hit anything in its range.
Strategy: Use this as an indicator to retreat and stay out of range until the attack finishes.
  • 2. Bell Charge
Description: Charges at an enemy, bashing it with the character's shield and striking it. This knocks it back and stuns it.
Strategy: Staying mobile, watching the boss's movements, and timing your dodges.

Recommended Builds

Due to The Crowbell's high physical damage and slow movement, the following archetypes have an advantage:

  • Ranger - Lightning Arrow: Utilize high mobility to "kite" the boss. The arcing lightning effectively clears the summoned crows instantly.
  • Sorceress - Ice Nova: Chill and Freeze effects can slow down the boss's charge animation, making the dodge timing much more forgiving.
  • Key Stats: Regardless of class, ensure your Physical Damage Reduction is above 20% and carry a Life Flask with "Removes Bleeding" suffix.
