PoE 2 Boss Guide: Constrictor Queen Kabala Strategy & Drops

Constrictor Queen Kabala is a deceptive and agile optional boss encountered in The Venom Pit, a sub-area of the Keth region in Act 2 of Path of Exile 2. A monstrous fusion of humanoid and serpent, she is a master of ambush tactics. While optional, hunting her is crucial for any build, as she guards a Book of Specialisation, granting valuable weapon mastery points.

Lore & Background

In the ruins of Keth, buried beneath the shifting sands of the Vastiri Desert, lies the broodmother of the desert's horrors. Kabala is the "Constrictor Queen," a creature worshipped by the chaotic snake-cults of the dunes. Unlike simple beasts, she possesses a twisted intelligence, using the wind and sand to disorient her prey before crushing the life out of them.

She waits in her Venom Pit, a gladiatorial depression in the sand filled with the bones of those foolish enough to explore the lost city. She is the queen of the ambush, striking only when her victim is surrounded.

Core Mechanics

Kabala deals mixed Physical (Wind/Melee) and Chaos Damage. The fight takes place in a small circular arena. She alternates between rapid melee strikes and burrowing underground to reposition.

Phase 1: The Wind Serpent

• 1. Wind Shard
  Description: Kabala thrusts her arm forward, releasing a fast-moving projectile of compressed air (Wind).
  Strategy: This is a long-range poke that deals Physical damage. It travels very fast but in a straight line. Side-step or roll immediately when she pulls her arm back.
• 2. Tail Swipe
  Description: She straightens her body briefly before spinning her massive tail in a 360-degree circle.
  Strategy: This covers nearly the entire melee range. When you see her straighten up, Roll backwards out of range. Getting hit causes a heavy Stun.
• 3. Summon Skeleton Cobras
  Description: She guided the blood into the surrounding jars, summoning a large number of bone snakes to burst forth from the pottery and sand at the edge of the arena. They attack the player.
  Strategy: These minions swarm quickly and can body-block you. Use Area of Effect (AoE) skills to clear them instantly. Do not let them pile up.

• 4. Sand Burrow & Ambush
  Description: Kabala dives underground. A moving sand mound tracks the player before she bursts out.
  Strategy: Keep running. Do not stand still. When she erupts, she deals massive AoE damage and knocks players up.
• 5. Bone Cage
  Description: Kabala dives underground and then summons massive Bone Walls at the exit of the arena to completely block the area. This is usually accompanied by a full-screen Death Nova charge.
  Strategy: At this point, there is usually a gap left on the field, through which you can walk out to avoid this attack.
• 6. Wind Swarm
  Description: She spins violently, creating a sand tornado that fires wind shards in random directions.
  Strategy: Retreat to the very edge of the arena. The shards explode after a short delay, so watch your footing.

Recommended Builds

Kabala is agile but fragile (Weak to Cold). Builds with crowd control or high burst excel here.

• Sorceress - Ice Nova/Frost: Kabala is officially Weak to Cold. Freezing her cancels her burrow animation and slows down her rapid Wind Shards.
• Warrior - Earthquake: The slam AoE effectively kills the Skeleton Cobras while hitting the boss.
• Key Stats: Physical Damage Reduction is key against her Wind Shards. Evasion helps avoid the minion attacks.
